Our History

Founded in 1977, our primary mission is to recruit, train and place volunteers so they can use their diverse talents in service to our many local communities. We also help other nonprofits succeed by building their capacity to use volunteers effectively. Daily, we engage volunteers through our Family & Court Advocates Court Referral Program in the community.

MISSION

Volunteer Center of Southwest Michigan, Inc. promotes, supports and connects volunteers working to build a strong caring community.

Family and Court Advocates Referral Program

The Family and Court Advocates Referral Program manages Court-Ordered Community Service programs. We connect non-violet offenders with appropriate volunteer opportunities at local nonprofits, government agencies and other eligible organizations. At Volunteer Southwest Michigan, Inc. our Community Service Coordinators work directly with program participants to place them in a volunteer position that is commensurate with their skills, experience and physical abilities. As volunteers, they reap direct personal benefits. Volunteering can help to develop leadership skills
